When the people came together, to discuss a plan.
Asking for suggestions from everyman.
As they worked out all the details.
Careful planning not to tip the scales.
Separation guarantees we will not fail.

So they split it up. Like Polybius was teaching.
If we keep it pure. Nothing can corrupt the meaning.
It’s all based on trust. We will avoid overreaching.

Filled with hope they arrived by boat, spread out across the country
Choosing leaders who were wise and would lead so humbly.
But their greed wasn’t satisfied. Railroads and Castles didn’t pacify.
Soon the darkness over took a once blue sky.

From the grassy knoll. Another lost soul is calling.
A rising death toll. Still the dominos were falling.
Running for the roof. Desperate for a quick extraction.
While the evening news tried to contain the reaction.

After the Dream normal fades to extreme.
After today peace just goes away.
After the Dream silence turns into screams.

She was a gift from across the sea. Now she stands in the harbor.
Welcoming everyone who wanted to live free.
Her torch used to light the way. Celebrating independence day.
We’re so far removed from what Emma had to say.

Send me your rich. Send me your well connected.
Check the right box. So you’re not rejected.
Gone are the days where your rights are protected.
There’s no more truth. When every question’s deflected.
Nothing else matters but getting elected.

After the Dream normal fades to extreme.
After today peace just goes away.
